‘It lets our voices be heard and helped us understand each other a little better’- A reflection on 1,210Km by J25 member Jess Wood

Working with Junction 25 for 6 years, I know what to expect –
but with this collaboration I was thrown into a new way of devising theatre.

We collaborated with Theatre An Der Parkaue,
a theatre group from Berlin, to create a piece of work together.
1,210km is a performance about connection and disconnection
and our differences and similarities.

Throughout the process we were curious to find out
what exactly is the space between us?

Over the past year I made connections with people I’ve never met,
friendships I won’t forget and I’ve developed skills I didn’t know I needed.
Working with a new group of young people from somewhere I’d never been
was unbelievably refreshing and the work we created is so important, to me and to us all.
It lets our voices be heard and helped us understand each other a little better
and I’m so proud to be a part of this collaboration.
